Volley Drill

This drills guaranteed to improve your volley. Exchange backhands (or forehands) with your practice partner from service-line depth, moving from side-to-side. When you're on the ad side, you'll be hitting crosscourt backhand volleys. When you're in the center, you'll be hitting down-the-line backhand volleys. When you're on the deuce side, you'll be hitting reverse-crosscourt backhand volleys. Hit to your practice partner. Keep the ball in play, not taking advantage of chances to hit winners. Then repeat the drill to practice your forehand volley. Mike (closest to camera) and Bob Bryan demonstrate this drill in the video below. Notice that they hit forehands only when they must.
